![]() These potions increase the maximum weight you can carry for a limited time, allowing you to fast-travel into town, where you can drop off the goods. Good thing you brewed a Fortify Carry Weight potion before you set out on your adventure. Now that you’ve picked that lock and nabbed the rare gear inside the chest, you’re carrying too much weight. A Fortify Lockpicking potion can help you pick more difficult locks than your skill level would allow, giving you access to that sweet looty goodness inside. Some locations are absolutely loaded with loot, and when you run into a locked chest, you just know it’s full of good stuff. But since Hawk Feathers have Cure Disease as their first effect, simply eating them will have the same effect as a crafted potion. Cure Disease is an all-or-nothing potion – you drink it, and it cures your disease. Pro tip: If you have Hawk Feathers, just eat them. A Cure Disease potion can cure them all, including Sanguinare Vampiris, if you treat it soon enough. If the NPCs you encounter start saying that you look unwell, check your Active Effects because you may be infected by one of Skyrim’s many diseases. It’s also great for completing those stealth quests when you’re more of a Tank. An Invisibility Potion can help you sneak past them when beating them just isn’t an option. Sometimes even a heavy-duty health potion isn’t enough to defeat an enemy, and that’s where Invisibility comes in. These ingredients all have Restore Health as their first effect, meaning you can eat them on their own for a small health boost, but combining them into a potion yields much more powerful results. A health-restoring potion can make the difference between finally beating that gnarly monster or dying for the 47th time. This is one of the most essential alchemy effects in Skyrim for reasons that should be obvious. These five alchemical effects (and the ingredients that produce them) can give you a quick boost in battle and in town. They all have their uses, but some are certainly more practical than others. There are over a hundred ingredients and dozens of alchemical effects to discover.

Instead, both players take turns: whenever one player dies, the other gets his turn. The European release, Gryzor, does not feature a simultaneous 2-Players mode. One player lagging behind can cause problems for his partner, as the screen will not scroll onward, and a slow player can be fatal to his partner. Both players occupy the same screen and must coordinate their actions. Contra also features a two-player cooperative mode. Each maze stage is followed by a '3D fixed' stage set at the core of the base, in which the player must destroy a series of flashing sensors to expose an even larger sensor and destroy it. During the 3D maze stages, the upper screen will display a map of the base along with a time limit. Each of these '3D maze' stages are set inside the corridor of an enemy base in which the player must fight through the base's defenses in order to reach the core of the base. In addition to the standard side view stages, Contra also features stages in which the player character is seen from behind and must move towards the background in order to proceed. A single hit from any enemy, bullet, or other hazard will instantly kill the player character and discard the current weapon. The player can also jump, move and fire in eight directions, as well as move or jump simultaneously while firing. The main character is equipped with a rifle with an unlimited amount of ammunition. The American storyline also changes the identity of 'Red Falcon' from being the name of a terrorist organization to the name of an alien entity. Varies between supplementary materials: the Japanese versions sets the game in the year 2633 on the fictional 'Galuga archipelago' near New Zealand, whereas the manual for the American NES version sets the game during the present in an unnamed South American island. In Contra, the player controls one of two armed military commandos named Bill 'Mad Dog' Rizer and Lance 'Scorpion' Bean, who are sent on a mission to neutralize a terrorist group called the Red Falcon Organization that is planning to take over the Earth. Several Contra sequels were produced following the original game. The home versions were localized in the PAL region as Gryzor on the various computer formats and as Probotector on the NES, released later. A home version was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, along with ports for various computer formats, including the MSX2. ![]() Kazuki Muraoka, Hidenori Maezawa, Kiyohiro SadaĬontra, known as Probotector and occasionally Gryzor in Europe and Oceania, is a 1987 run and gun action game developed and published by Konami originally released as a coin-operated arcade game on February 20, 1987. ![]() Koji Hiroshita, Shigeharu Umezaki, Shinji Kitamoto. This example, with nearly twenty years, tells me more than any of the other wines ever did: It’s fully mature, it’s not getting better from here, and it’s also far from being over the hill, and it’s delicious. Which is another way of saying that I’ve tasted most of the others when they’re just being released, or within 5-7 years of release. Tonight’s wine is the first Villa Fidelia Rosso I’ve had in some time. Block out the noise of points, labels, vintages, etc., just taste. I’ve probably gone on an on about this in one of my previous posts, but it’s important. In both instances, it’s probably best to just taste the wine, blind, preferably, consider its merits as wine, and then make a judgment vs deciding upfront that a certain style does/doesn’t appeal to you. If you’re one that considers consultants/labs in the pejorative, if you’re one that subscribes to the idea that these are divisive issues – with some choosing only traditional producers, some choosing only modern producers. I’m pretty sure anyone producing wine for commercial sale on the level of a few thousand cases or more per year is using a lab of some sort. But it’s not fair, in fact it’s pretty foolish, to call these (or similar wines that are produced in concert with consultants, ‘ wines produced in a laboratory‘. everyone’s on the same page, and harvested grapes will arrive in the best condition possible.Īnd yes, he’s using laboratories to make sure what he’s tasting is correct. The same should apply to all of us, taste, decide if it’s likeable or not.īut, since the winegrowing is being managed by Cotarella’s team in concert with the winegrower’s team, this is not really a likely outcome – i.e. If he does, the wine gets produced, if not, it’s rosé wine, or bulk wine, or declassified, etc. Period.Ĭotarella’s consulting role is much the same – to work with winegrowers to make sure that they’re growing the best grapes possible then he’ll taste, then he’ll decide what the plant(s) are saying, what the soil is saying. Taste the wine, first, live with it a little while contemplating what’s in the glass, what might be possible with time, then decide if you like it. For instance, to dismiss, out of hand, the use of barrique, before knowing anything else about the wine, or for that matter, even tasting it, is simply foolish. Let me expand on that idea of ‘style’, it can be a divisive issue relying on that ‘style’ label, can, and often is, a pitfall for (some) wine drinkers as much as it is a tool for other wine drinkers. But tonight was different, I wanted to see how this ‘style/blend’ had held up over after a rest of nearly 20 years since harvest. As I’ve said, I’m not one to drink these types of wines, I prefer to drink single variety wines as opposed to blends most nights. The 15 days of maceration, the international varieties, and the use of small, French oak barrels are all evident in tonight’s wine – but that’s not a good or a bad thing, it’s just a fact. This, the 1998, marks the first year of the Sportoletti family’s relationship with Riccardo Cotarella, an enologist/agronomist known for his enologic/agronomic consultancy for more than 80 wineries, in Italy, and in other countries, too. I think I’d have liked to have tried that in its youth, if only to have as a reference point. The first Villa Fidelia Rosso was produced in 1990. That said, the wine, like most, needed some air at first so that it could shake off the damp soil smells that often come with age after 30 minutes, the wine was completely opened up, and stayed that way until it was finished some two hours later. Cork, fill, and color all in excellent conditionĪs you can see in the photos above, the fill, cork and condition of this 1998 Villa Fidelia Rosso were as good as one could hope for at twenty years old. *DSS button (Direct Station Select) = one of the programmable button programmed to call another extension and see busy status Non Programmable Keys Call Indicator Lamp= Blinks with new voice mail message(s).
